Intersection of Old Dallas Rd and Ragweed Valley Rd

Alamo, Arkansas

Friday night right at dark. I had been filming deer with my 10 year old son. Checked the video tape to make sure we were not filming marijuana plants. Unreal, there were six of them. Four county cops and two game wardens with nothing better to do. Harassed us for about ten minutes.

Arkansas Highway 23 near Lone

Logan County, Arkansas

One of the most surreal things I have ever experienced in this country.

I was driving a group of youth from our church in Texas to a mission project in Missouri. We passed through this rural Arkansas county in the early morning hours and hadn't passed another vehicle for almost an hour. All of a sudden, about 5 miles into Logan County, we topped a hill and on a straight stretch of the highway ahead saw blue lights. Thought it was an accident and stopped short of the patrol cars when a flashlight came on and waved us forward. Discovered it to be a roadblock manned by two young deputies.

They were polite, but very inquisitive. One deputy inspected paperwork on van and drivers license while the other did a walk around and used a powerful flashlight to look through windows. Woke up everybody in the process. We waited another ten minutes for them to inspect the second van with us. No other vehicles came through the roadblock while we were there and with the low level of traffic we couldn't believe they would even bother with this site.

I-540 Entrance ramp from Zero Street

Fort Smith, Arkansas

Told Arkansas State Troopers that I did not approve of being stopped while getting my license out for inspection. I had my 14 year old son in my car with me at the time and the trooper informed me that I needed to keep comments like that to myself in front of my child. When I told him he had no business telling me what I could or could not say in front of my son he ordered me to the side of the ramp for a stepped up interrogation. They did their best to intimidate and harrass but ultimately they gave me my license back and told me to get out of their sight.

Hwy 82E at Promise Land Road

Hamburg, Arkansas

Roadblock was manned by AR state troopers and Ashley County sheriff's deputies. The trooper only asked for my license, but other cops shined flashlights into the car. The trooper stated that it was to check for drunk drivers, and was fairly professional compared to others I've heard of.
