Two drivers were arrested Friday night on suspicion of driving under the influence at a DUI and driver's license checkpoint in Redding. The checkpoint was conducted from 6 to 10 p.m. on Churn Creek Road north of Maraglia Street, Redding police Sgt. Casey Bokavich said. Officers screened 770 vehicles and stopped 657 drivers for further investigation, either at the checkpoint or by officers patrolling nearby. Four drivers were given field sobriety tests, with two of them being arrested, Bokavich said. Three drivers were cited for traffic violations, including two who were driving on a suspended license. Four vehicles were towed.
