Huge operation, mobile command station, bright lights cones and cops everywhere. Looks like a scene from a movie. Screwing traffic up, way overkill.

As many as 6 vehicles are watching for drivers exiting from the parking lot from the restaurants on that corner. The are usually there on Thursday and Friday evenings from about 9:00 PM and later. You get pulled over and asked to blow. Most likely you will be taken to jail regardless of the results, charged with "DUI/Unsafe" and asked to post a $2500.00 bond. You are also told that you must appear in court with an Attorney. This is a real money maker for that city. If you go out for dinner and a glass of wine, don't do it in Alpharetta, GA

I wrote this post to aid proactive individuals from getting into a bad situation.
This check point was set up at roughly 2130 Thursday June 30th. They used the Alpha Soda parking lot for driver evaluations.
Alpharetta is SERIOUS about DWI. They have many officers trained in DRE (Drug Recognition Experts) and DUI Investigations, so exercise extreme caution when partying in Alpharetta.

The APD blocks GA 9 at this location and diverts every vehicle into the parking lot, where fresh out of school green, gung-ho lads and lasses try their best to violate your civil rights. The saddening part is they learned it from their bosses. Alpharetta will take you to jail after blowing a ZERO.. That's asinine.

Since this was St. Patrick's Day evening, may have been a one-time deal. I have never seen so many police men/cars except in the movies!
