East bound on North at Kingsbury (reduced to one lane)

Chicago, Illinois

Happened on Friday April 29th, yesterday, at about 8:45pm for me. They asked for license and insurance. Insurance was in the back so they didn't make me look. Questioned why I had a DUP license but took my word that I had lost my original. So, fairly lenient I suppose. First time I have personally seen this in Chicago. Do not know if they are there again tonight.

This Illinois roadblock was added to the Roadblock Registry in April 2016.

Westbound Rt 62/Algonquin Rd and Ryan Prkwy

Algonquin, Illinois

Typical pre-scheduled roadblock for "safety check" (aka Drunk Driving) for all westbound vehicles on Rt 62 (Algonquin Rd.) just before the Butera supermarket. All westbound traffic is herded right onto Ryan Parkway and into unused parking lot with very bright road construction lights throughout the lot and many, many uniformed officers in and out of their vehicles. Also, tow trucks ready and available in lot to remove vehicles of arrested drivers. This roadblock occurs between one to three times each year at the same location for the past 4 years now. Generally from 8pm until 4am the following morning.

This was published in the local newspapers about 3 days in advance.

Eastbound lanes on North Ave (Rte 64) just east of Kedzie

Chicago, Illinois

Roadside Safety Check: Traffic reduced to right lane only. Temporary STOP sign set up at entrance to Humboldt Park. Officer randomly diverts, or picks and chooses at will. If selected, pull into entrance on right. Looking for DUIs, seatbelt, suspended license, insurance, equipment violations. Basically a "Ticketmaster". Cops relatively cool, let me go after drunk check and show license and insurance

At Route 1 and Ross Lane

Danville, Illinois

I do not condone drunk driving but road blocks are actually illegal...The State, County and area police set up a road block at this intersection which is a 4 way stop light....that is 3/4 a mile South of the 215 Exit on I-74...if someone turns around before the block they will come after you...If you live before the block and maybe just coming home from work they will send a car after you....It should apply to all, not let a "off duty cop" through that they know has been drinking and legally drunk, just because they know him or cause he shows them his badge....Cops take care of Cops...!!
