Hwy 740 and Old Whitney Rd

Stanly County, North Carolina

I have seen this checkpoint set up every summer for years, usually Sat. or Sun. afternoon/ night. Some weekends it is a half mile in either direction, at the intersection of Hwy 740 and Fish Camp Rd. or at 740 and Mtn. Creek Rd. Usually they check for people who have been drinking at the lake. They ask for licence, check your inspection & tags, and like to ask where you are going, what have you been doing, etc.

This North Carolina roadblock was added to the Roadblock Registry in January 2006.
