Nichols is well known as a speed trap but from time to time, usually on weekends, the county, state, and town police run a traffic check. When they suspect something is questionable, they have been known to completely strip-search a vehicle, to the point of removing the seats.

This South Carolina roadblock was added to the Roadblock Registry in March 2003.
