Area police plan traffic checkpoints in Myrtle Beach area

Police agencies are being asked to conduct "Stepped-Up Enforcement" along area roads later this month in an effort to reduce crashes and other driving related offenses, according to authorities. Various checkpoints are expected to be held as part of the increased focus to prevent crashes and traffic-related fatalities, said Cpl. Shannon Toole with the Myrtle Beach Police Department's traffic division. Myrtle Beach police also are planning to hold a checkpoint on Nov. 16 along Robert Grissom Parkway in the city, Toole said.

Roadblock Tonight Started at 8 or 9 PM 8-28-11 Went around it bye cvs made left turn Down to 179. Same Roadblock was set last year on 8-29-10 started At About 8 or 9 PM A Sunday..Don"t know if they only do this around Labor day. I think they do.

Troopers, Anderson County Sheriff's Deputies and local PD. Checked my license and looked at my tag sent me on my way. Saw them cuffing a Hispanic looking man. Probably checking for no license and or DUI. Friday night about 7:30PM

2915 Platt Springs Road by Town Hall & Jewelry Warehouse

Springdale, South Carolina

Full road check/stop usually at night starting 9pm until 1am stopping traffic in both directions for license/registration, insurance, sobriety.

The stop is located in a curve of the road to avoid being seen until near approach. They will chase to stop if caught avoiding the stop by taking a side road. Police cars from Springdale, West Columbia, Lexington County all take part in this stop. They put up traffic cones to funnel the traffic and usually have 8 to 12 police cars in the mix.

Seneca police set up a license checkpoint on Radio Station Rd right at the dip past Lowes and in front of South Carolina credit union about 10pm on saturday. They checked license and plate stickers.
