Alabama State Troopers set up a massive roadblock on Highway 119 near Lake Purdy and the entrance to the Greystone Legacy subdivision. There were almost a dozen police vehicles present, flashing blue lights, and a large van. Troopers said they were checking licenses and proof of insurance. They were also making people take BAC tests.

This is often a route taken by persons leaving clubs in Huntsville after 2:00 a.m. It was around 2:30 on a Saturday night when I encountered this roadblock. The Morgan County deputy was very nice and respectful and checked my license, tag and insurance registration. However, I assume they were looking for persons DUI, which I am sure they have a lot to deal with on this road at this time of night. Of course, my car was in top shape, all my paperwork was in order, I wasn't speeding, and I was respectful...but their attitude might have been different otherwise. I don't know how frequently they have this roadblock...I have never encountered it before..

These roadblocks are setup quite frequently and numerous throughout the summer months. I personally went through three in one day before. This morning, my place of employment was enclosed in roadblocks ,no known way to get to work without going through and being checked.
