Bensenville Police began a new procudure where most vehicles towed
by the local police will result in the owner paying a so-called
administrative fee of $500.00 to the Village of Bensenville in order
to get the vehicle out of impound. Ironically, the police department
started weekly roadblock safety checks shortly after instituting
this new tow policy. A nice money maker for every vehicle they tow. |

was September 2001. It was between 10PM and 12AM. Every 5th car
stopped. There were cop cars in the turn lanes and signs for > everyone
to merge from 3 to 1 lane. The merging didn't start until heading
East bound after the intersection of North Ave and Gary. The sign
said Roadside Check. It was at the old KMart bldg which is now a
church. They have also been reported heading west bound after Gary
and North Ave. |

during the late evening hours of Friday, August 31st. The detail
was conducted at Route 161 at Hickory Drive and US 51 at Green Street
in Centralia by seven state police officers. A total of 21 citations
were issued. Five for occupant restraint offenses. Four each for
other alcohol related incidents and criminal offenses. Twenty-three

| This
was a Local sting involving County Sherriffs and Mt. Vernon Police,they
set up a bunch of signs on the southbound lane announcing a Drug
stop ahead with K-9's and they set them up on the uphill side of
an overpass so you see the signs but can't see the otherside of
the overpass. There is an offramp at the top of the overpass and
if you exit on that offramp no matter what the reason they will
stop you for suspicious behavior. They will make up any percieved
violation to legally pull you over such as rolling through the stop,
crossing a white line (illegal lane usage), or what they used on
me (trailer hitch blocked license plate). I took the exit just to
see what they would do, they stopped me but then quickly let me
go. The trick is, I was a local resident therfore my exiting on
that offramp was not suspicious like it would be for an out of state
citizen exiting at such a remote location presumably due to the
drug signs they set up. The trick is, no matter what just stay on
the interstate and drive the speed limit and they cannot stop you,
if you get off on that offramp they will make up a reason to pull
you over. |
