It is 4:23 here I encountered the checkpoint 20 minuets ago. Their are 6 State cars, 2 Local, 2 Sheriff, and a Car from another cop car from Morenci.

This is a new US Border Patrol hot spot, (25 miles inland or less is deemed constitutional for unwarranted searches). When it got too busy some cars were waived through unquestioned. Only in operation one day as of this registry, and the newspapers have stories covering locations and times.

After US Ccustoms agent asked if I had been driking (my stupid reply 2 drinks) , I was directed into the arms of the police (over 8 officers from various municipalities) , sobriety check and arrest resulted. I was marginaly over the limit. Occured 2 weeks before Thanksgiving 2002.

Police will walk between vehicles at stop light, looking inside for seatbelt usage. Any "violators" are motioned over to a parking lot where they are ticketed.
