This roadblock is set up on NM HWY 404, commonly called "The Gap" as it is the road between the gap of two mountain ranges. This roadblock is set up around 9pm and checks vehicles travleing in both directions mainly for alcohol related offenses. Also, you cannot see the roadblock until after you round a turn and head downhill, where it is two late.

Set up south of Meadowlark at a bend in the road not knowing it was there until you are upon it. First words from the officer's mouth were "Have you had anything to drink tonight".

The blocks are started about 8 pm during fall, winter and spring, and at sundown during the summer. The blocks are conducted as a joint operation between Farmington, Bloomfield, Aztec Police, State Police and County. The blocks are set up where you can't see them until you've come around the curve in the road.
